Your Senior Photographic Experience

A Guide to Your Session

I'm so excited to welcome you to Noran Shine Studio — this is going to be a fun one. Senior year is a huge milestone, and this session is your chance to show up exactly as yourself: confident, a little bit hyped, and ready to have some great portraits to show for it.

This guide walks you through everything — what to wear, what to bring, and how the day will go — so there's nothing to stress about. I'm always there to help you with everything, from picking outfits to figuring out the perfect shot, so just relax and let's make this easy.

How Your Session Works

Every senior session is built around you — your style, your interests, and the kind of portraits you actually want on your wall (or your phone). I'll cover a mix of looks during your time with me, and we'll plan it all out together ahead of time so there are no surprises on the day.

Classic Portraits

These are the timeless ones — cap and gown, a classic look in a suit, or simply your favorite outfit. This is the shot your family will treasure, the one that says "I made it." Clean, confident, and built to last.

Creative & Personality Portraits

This is where you get to show off who you actually are. Into sports, gaming, music, cars, art, weightlifting — whatever it is, we'll plan a creative portrait around it. Bring your gear, wear your gear, strike a pose that's actually you. We'll talk through the concept ahead of your session so we walk in with a plan and walk out with portraits that feel personal, not generic.

Outdoor Session Option

Prefer natural light and a change of scenery? We can build part (or all) of your session outdoors. A few things to think through as you prepare:

  • Timing & light — outdoor sessions are scheduled around golden hour for the best light, so we'll lock in a time together in advance.
  • Weather — Florida weather can shift fast. I'll keep an eye on the forecast, and if adjustments are needed, we'll work it out together.
  • Footwear — bring shoes that can handle grass, gravel, or a short walk, plus a backup pair for your portraits.
  • Location — I can recommend a few go-to outdoor spots, or if you have somewhere meaningful to you (your field, your car, your backyard), let's talk about it.
  • What to bring — water, a change of clothes if you're combining outdoor and studio looks, and sunscreen if we're out for a while.

Outfit Advice

Bring a few options and I'll help you land on the right ones.

  • 1–2 classic looks — think suit, button-down, or your cap and gown.
  • 1–2 personal looks — whatever feels like you: a favorite jacket, team jersey, streetwear, band tee — bring it in.
  • Stick to clean lines and solid colors or simple patterns for the rest — busy logos and prints can distract from the shot.
  • Committing to a college? Bring the shirt! Your future-college tee is a senior-portrait tradition, and it's the one deliberate exception to the logo rule above — that print is the whole point of the shot, and I'd love to build a portrait around it.
  • Comfortable shoes you can move in, plus anything specific to a hobby or sport you want featured.
  • Not sure what works? Text me photos of your options before your session — I'm always happy to help you put it together.

Accessories & Meaningful Items

Bring anything that tells your story — a varsity jacket, a hat, sports gear, an instrument, a car key, a favorite pair of sneakers, or something tied to a hobby or passion. These small details add personality and make your portraits unmistakably yours.

Grooming & Getting Ready

A little prep goes a long way in front of the camera:

  • Schedule your haircut 4–5 days before your session so it has time to settle in.
  • If you've got facial hair, trim or shape it a day or two ahead.
  • Get a good night's sleep — it shows.
  • Clean, moisturized skin photographs best — nothing fancy, just the basics.

No makeup needed here — I'm keeping it natural and letting your actual look carry the shot.

The Day Before Your Session

  • Review your outfit choices and pack everything up — iron anything that needs it and pull off any tags.
  • Charge your phone if you're bringing gear or props that need it.
  • Get some good sleep and drink plenty of water.
  • Take a minute to relax — you're in good hands, and there's nothing you need to over-prepare for.

The Day of Your Session

Fuel Up

Eat something before you head over and stay hydrated. I'll have snacks and drinks ready for you too — just bring yourself and a good attitude.

Arrive Ready to Have Fun

I've mapped out the day so it flows easily. Show up on time, and from there, I'm always there to help you with everything — every pose, every transition, every idea. You don't need to know how to "pose" — that's my job. Just relax, bring your energy, and let's create something you'll actually be proud to show off.

What to Wear to the Studio

Wear something loose and comfortable to travel in — a hoodie or tee you can change out of easily works great. Arrive with clean, styled hair so we can jump right into your first look.

Time Commitment

Please plan to spend up to 3–4 hours with me. This includes:

  • Your senior photo session (studio and/or outdoor)
  • A cinematic presentation of your best portraits
  • A personalized design consultation to pick your favorites and order artwork

Same-Day Ordering

Right after your session, we'll walk through your photo reveal together and help you design keepsakes — wall art, gifts, whatever fits. Your order is placed and paid for the same day, so you leave with everything decided.

Bringing Guests

This session is all about you — but you're welcome to bring along the people (and pets!) who make you feel most like yourself. Parents, siblings, friends, teammates, or your dog — all welcome, and any of them can hop into a few portraits with you if you'd like.

Just let me know in advance who (or who else, four-legged included) is coming, so I can plan the session flow and make sure everyone's comfortable.
